Dirt Operator

WTX Oilfield Services is seeking a Dirt Operator to join our growing team. Dirt Operators are responsible for safely operating heavy equipment to perform earthmoving, site preparation, road construction, pad construction, reclamation, and other civil construction activities in support of oil and gas operations. 


This position requires experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment while maintaining production schedules and adhering to all company and customer safety standards. A valid CDL is preferred to assist with equipment transportation and other driving responsibilities. 


Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, motor graders, loaders, backhoes, compactors, skid steers, and other construction equipment. 

  • Perform lease road construction and maintenance, location and pad construction, reserve pits, frac pits, and reclamation work. 

  • Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and supervisor instructions to achieve proper elevations and grades. 

  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment and report maintenance needs promptly. 

  • Perform routine equipment maintenance including fueling, greasing, cleaning, and fluid checks. 

  • Load, unload, and transport equipment when qualified and authorized. 

  • Work safely around pipelines, utilities, production facilities, and other underground or overhead hazards. 

  • Assist labor crews as needed during periods of equipment downtime. 

  • Maintain accurage equipment inspection and maintenance documentation.

  • Follow all company safety policies, customer requirements, and environmental regulations. 

  • Maintain clean work areas and equipment. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Previous experience operating heavy construction equipment (preferably in the oil and gas industry).

  • Valid CDL is strongly preferred.

  • Ability to safely operate multiple types of heavy equipment.

  • Knowledge of grading, excavation, and earthmoving techniques.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills. 

  • Thorough understanding of safe heavy equipment operation. 

  • Ability to recognize underground utility hazards and changing jobsite conditions. 

  • Basic mechanical aptituted for routine equipment inspections and minor maintenance.

  • Ability to work in changing weather conditions and uneven terrain. 

Physical Requirements
  • Frequently climb on and off heavy equipment. 

  • Sit for extended periods while operating equipment. 

  • Lift and carry up to 75 pounds. 

  • Walk, bend, kneel, stoop, and work on uneven surfaces. 

  • Work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, dust, mud, and adverse weather conditions. 

  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and travel to jobsites.
